As the summer comes to an end and the return to college stands only a few days away, I've been reflecting on the past three months of interning at USDP. Entering the summer, I had one goal: I sought to immerse myself in the USDP process and learn as much as I could, but also provide as much value as I was capable of in return. From the very start, the USDP team perceived my eagerness and responded by giving me opportunities to learn hands-on in important situations, which was the best thing I could ask for!

Spending a summer with USDP has offered me an opportunity to do substantial work with each department (e.g., sales, account mgmt., design, development, ads, SEO), resulting in an understanding of the company and its daily work. From putting together a Figma design with the creative team to sitting in on sales strategy conversations to exploring GA4 and SEO keyword optimization with the performance marketing team to page builds alongside developers, this summer has been informative and fascinating.

With USDP I have had the opportunity to work firsthand with various cutting-edge digital marketing tools and platforms including Webflow, Figma, GA4, Vercel, Sketch, and my favorite, Sanity. With Sanity – a new Headless content management system (CMS) providing more versatility than traditional website builds – I took page designs in Figma and brought them to life on web pages. I also spent substantial time doing traditional WordPress page builds, resulting in a valuable understanding of the evolution of websites.

Throughout the summer, the USDP team has offered a welcoming environment from the very first day. Within the first week, I found myself being asked my own opinion and being given chances to share ideas. Whenever unexpected problems came up during my work, I was entrusted to navigate the issue and take the necessary steps and risks to solve the problem on my own. The USDP team always led with a balanced attitude of confidence in my abilities and patient guidance. This balanced approach to mentorship resulted in my personal growth in problem-solving skills, encouraging me to look for new ways to convey information and complete the job.

I am deeply grateful for the USDP teams’ mentorship and friendship this summer. Being immersed everyday in the joyful team environment is something I will miss.
